HARTFORD, Ohio – Cale Conley’s Saturday victory at Sharon Speedway ensured that the Cometic Gasket Ohio Sprint Speedweek championship fight would go down to the final night of action.
Conley banked the $7,500 Lou Blaney Memorial at Sharon, climbing back from nearly 100 points behind Reutzel and in a tie for second in the standings to sole possession of the runner-up ranking, 46 back.
Entering Sunday’s mini-series finale, 150 points are on offer for the race winner, with a four-point drop to second and two point differentials from third on back.
With that in mind, should Conley win Justin Snyder’s Salute to the Troops, Reutzel needs only to finish 22nd or better in order to secure his first Speedweek crown.
All other drivers from third on back in the standings will be mathematically eliminated once Reutzel rolls out to qualify, ensuring he’ll receive at least the 90 appearance points for attempting to compete.
Paul McMahan (1,056) ranks third in Speedweek points, followed by Cory Eliason (1,040) and Skylar Gee (994).
Zeb Wise (990), Josh Baughman (954), Tim Shaffer (954), Greg Wilson (906) and Gerard McIntyre (896) filled out the top 10 in the overall Buckeye State tour points.
Cometic Gasket Ohio Sprint Speedweek concludes Sunday night with Justin Snyder’s Salute to the Troops at Sharon Speedway.
