MOORESVILLE, N.C. – Acura Motorsports has announced it has mutually agreed to end its partnership with Team Penske in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship at the end of the season.

The program debuted in 2018, with Team Penske fielding a pair of ARX-05 entries in the DPi division. The team earned its first victory at the Acura Sports Car Challenge at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course that same season.

Last year Dane Cameron and Juan Pablo Montoya delivered three victories for the program, which allowed them to capture the manufacturer, team and driver titles in the DPi category.

“On behalf of everyone at Acura and HPD, we’d like to thank Team Penske for their incredible efforts and impressive results racing the ARX-05,” said Ted Klaus, president of Honda Performance Development, the competition arm for Acura Motorsports.  “The success we’ve achieved together during the first two-plus years of the program makes us even more determined to score more victories, defend our championships, and conclude our partnership on the highest of notes.”

Overall, the Acura ARX-05 scored four wins, 14 podiums and nine poles in 22 races since its debut in 2018.

Acura is also involved in IMSA in the GT Daytona class with the Acura NSX GT3 Evo, which is campaigned by Meyer Shank Racing and Gradient Racing.
