COVID-19 changed everyone’s lives, as it did with World Table Tennis Day plans. Despite all the obstacles, the celebration was huge. No less than 3,882 passionate players worldwide participated in the longest, craziest table tennis rally the world has ever witnessed.

Don’t miss the chance to read the full event report, which summarises the original plans and the transformation process to the digital celebration. Notably, 31 countries, new to the the World Table Tennis Day family, joined in the fun!

Understandably, the overall number of participants was lower than in previous years, since social gatherings were restricted in most parts of the world, but the range of different territories taking part saw a highly positive increase.

“I’m very proud that World Table Tennis Day was celebrated by more and more people regarding the geographical distribution, with 171 countries and regions joining in. This is simply amazing! It also marks the achievement of one of the key outcomes of the ITTF’s Strategic Plan 2018-2024 regarding promotion: to reach active participants from 75% of ITTF member nations and independent regions.” – Leandro Olvech, ITTF Foundation Director

You can watch the full celebrations video below. Can you see yourself in it?!

Preparations for next year’s World Table Tennis Day on 6 April 2021 are already entering full speed. Save the date and make sure to play your part in this incredible table tennis movement!
