St. Louis catcher Yadier Molina announced on social media Tuesday that he was one of the Cardinals to have tested positive for the coronavirus.

"Good morning, I am saddened to have tested positive for COVID-19, even after following the prevention recommendations," Molina, a nine-time All-Star, wrote. "I'll do everything in my power to get back ASAP for Cardinals fans, St. Louis City and my teammates. As I recover, I request that you respect my and my family's privacy during my absence from the team. Blessings!!"

The Cardinals announced Tuesday that in addition to Molina, Paul DeJong, Edmundo Sosa, Rangel Ravelo, Junior Fernandez and Kodi Whitley tested positive. A seventh player appears to have not given permission to the team to release his name.

"I will approach my healing as I do all other things in my life -- with education, commitment, and persistence," DeJong said in a statement released by the team. "I look forward to re-joining the team soon and ask that you respect my privacy at this time."

MLB announced Monday that 13 members of the Cardinals organization -- seven players and six staff members -- had tested positive for the coronavirus in the past week, resulting in the postponement of St. Louis' series with the Detroit Tigers.

The Cardinals have played just three games this season and are hoping to return to action Friday hosting the Chicago Cubs.

As of now, the Cardinals who have tested positive have returned home while the rest of the team remains isolated in Milwaukee hotel rooms. Their last game was July 29 at Minnesota.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
