CONCORD, N.C. – Part-time NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series competitor Spencer Davis will be forced to miss Friday’s race at Michigan Int’l Speedway after testing positive for COVID-19.
Davis, who drives his own No. 11 truck when he competes in the Truck Series, announced the news in a Twitter post Thursday afternoon. He’s made nine starts so far this season. His team has withdrawn from Friday’s race.
Unfortunately i will be missing @MISpeedway, but looking forward to getting over this and back on track. Thanks to everyone who has reached out. pic.twitter.com/cSUeIgWmQT

Davis must meet three criteria — set by NASCAR officials since the sport returned to action in May after the COVID-19 outbreak — in order to return. They include two negative COVID-19 tests at least 24 hours apart, an absence of symptoms and medical clearance from a physician.
Seven-time NASCAR Cup Series champion Jimmie Johnson was the first NASCAR competitor to miss an event due to a positive COVID-19 test. He sat out the Big Machine Hand Sanitizer 400 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway due to the positive test, but returned to action the following week.
