Highlights from a busy weekend in athletics

Leverkusen, Germany, August 16
The USA’s world champion Sam Kendricks cleared 5.81m to win the pole vault on countback ahead of Germany’s Bo Kanda Lita Baehre.
Kendricks had been due to compete at the Monaco Diamond League but his poles did not arrive in time.
Imani-Lara Lansiquot ran a UK-leading 11.16 (+0.1m/sec) to win the women’s 100m, having earlier won her heat in 11.27 (+0.4m/s).

Germany’s Deniz Almas won the men’s 100m in 10.23, while Britain’s CJ Ujah clocked 10.27 in the heats but did not finish the final.
Germany’s Johannes Vetter threw 84.30m to win the javelin, while Italy’s Gianmarco Tamberi claimed high jump victory with a 2.29m clearance.
Nadine Visser of Netherlands won the 100m hurdles in 12.85 and Germany’s Katharina Trost won the mile in a world-leading 4:29.35.
Szczecin, Poland, August 16
British record-holder Holly Bradshaw cleared 4.70m for pole vault victory before attempting a UK outdoor record height of 4.82m.
In the men’s competition Piotr Lisek cleared 5.90m on home soil to beat Pawel Wojciechowski with 5.55m.
Michal Haratyk won the shot put with a 21.57m throw.
Jessie Knight was just off her 400m hurdles PB with a 55.45 winning time, while her fellow Briton Lina Nielsen finished fourth in 58.01.
Alex Bell won the 800m in 2:00.28 to lead a GB one-two ahead of Adelle Tracey with 2:00.99.
Pontoise, France, August 15
Lizzie Bird broke the British 2000m steeplechase best with 6:11.79 to improve on Lennie Waite’s 6:21.31 set in 2017.
Her fellow Brit Aimee Pratt was also inside the old UK record mark with 6:18.48 to finish fourth.
Minsk, Belarus, August 14
European silver medallist Maksim Nedasekau cleared 2.33m on home soil for a world lead in the high jump.
Lutsk, Ukraine, August 15-16
Ukraine’s Alina Shukh achieved a world-leading PB score of 6386 points in the heptathlon.
Austrian Championships, Suedstadt, August 15-16
Competing as a guest, the USA’s multiple world and Olympic triple jump champion Christian Taylor jumped 17.13m (+1.8m/s) for victory.
World bronze medallist Lukas Weisshaidinger won the discus with 64.81m.
Swedish Championships, Uppsala, August 15-16
Daniel Stahl won the discus with a throw of 68.74m to beat Simon Pettersson with 64.73m.
Angelica Bengtsson cleared 4.71m for pole vault victory, while Kim Amb won the javelin with 83.60m.
La-Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland, August 15
Lieke Klaver of Netherlands set a European-leading 200m PB of 22.66 (+1.3m/s) and won the 400m in 51.52.
Italy’s Filippo Tortu won the 100m in 10.18 (+0.2m/s) after clocking 10.16 in the heats.
Loughborough, England, August 16
Scott Lincoln threw a shot put PB of 20.65m to move to fifth on the UK all-time list, while Lewis Byng improved his PB with the senior weight shot to 18.56m for the second best ever throw by a British junior.

Amelia Strickler threw 17.61m to win the women’s shot put competition.
Charlie Dobson ran 45.84 on his 400m debut, while Jessica Turner equalled her one-lap PB with 52.77.
Jazmin Sawyers topped the women’s long jump with a 6.39m leap, while 2017 world para athletics champion Stef Reid jumped 5.24m.
Dan Greaves returned to action and threw 54.34m in the discus.
Dortmund, Germany, August 15
Britain’s Kristal Awuah secured a sprint double, clocking 11.53 and then 11.59 in the 100m and 23.56 in the 200m.
Josh Lay ran a PB of 3:38.18 to win his 1500m race.
Land’s End to John O’Groats, August 6-16
GB international ultra runner Dan Lawson completed the 822-mile Land’s End to John O’Groats in just 9 days, 21 hours, 14 minutes and 2 seconds.
He left Land’s End in western Cornwall on August 6 and arrived in John O’Groats in the far north of Scotland on August 16.
He had been targeting Richard Brown’s mark of 10 days and 2 hours.

Nigel Jenkins Dartmoor Round, England, August 15
Also in ultra running action was GB international Jo Meek, who set an outright FKT (fastest known time) for the 76-mile and 12,000ft Nigel Jenkins Dartmoor Round, clocking 14 hours and 39 minutes to improve on the previous best of 16 hours and 11 minutes.
