MOORESVILLE, N.C. – Ongoing concerns about the COVID-19 pandemic have resulted in the cancellation of the North Carolina Auto Racing Walk of Fame induction ceremony and the Stocks for Tots autograph event and fundraiser.

The North Carolina Auto Racing Walk of Fame ws set to induct NHRA Pro Stock competitor Greg Anderson and NASCAR Cup Series champion Bobby Labonte on Oct. 6 in a public ceremony in Mooresville, N.C. Both inductees will be formally recognized next October when the 2021 inductees are recognized.

The plaques honoring Anderson and Labonte will be placed in the sidewalk in downtown Mooresville later this year. There will not be a public ceremony.

The Stocks for Tots autograph event and fundraiser, typically held at the NASCAR Technical Institute in Mooresville, N.C., was scheduled for Dec. 8. The event has drawn thousands of attendees over its lifetime and has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars used to fund the prevention of child abuse and neglect in the Carolinas.

The 2019 event saw over 100 celebrities from the racing community come together in support of the Stocks for Tots mission. A date for the 2021 event will be released at a later time.

“It is with a heavy heart that I am announcing these cancellations on behalf of the NC Auto Racing Hall of Fame,” said Don Miller, Chairman of the Board of Directors for the NC Auto Racing Hall of Fame. “Our organization looks forward to planning and hosting these events, not only because they contribute to the good in our community but because they help further the preservation of motorsports history. However, we must put the health and wellbeing of everyone first which is why we have decided not to hold these events while infections continue to spread throughout the community.”
