Mondo Duplantis, Sam Kendricks and Holly Bradshaw are competing in the exhibition event in the city centre

Pole vault will be in the spotlight in Switzerland on Wednesday evening (September 2) when the Athletissima Wanda Diamond League meet in Lausanne takes place as a street athletics exhibition event.

World pole vault record-holder Mondo Duplantis is among those in action and will be going for his 12th consecutive victory this year.

The 20-year-old, who cleared 6.18m in February, has a season’s best of 6.01m from Stockholm.

Joining him in the elite men’s event will be world champion Sam Kendricks, who recently cleared 5.82m in Poland, plus former world record-holder Renaud Lavillenie, who continues his comeback following time out due to a broken thumb, Olympic champion Thiago Braz and Pan-American Games champion Chris Nilsen.

“I feel good. I am starting to get that feeling back that I had in the indoor season, starting to get that rhythm on the runway again, which is really important if you want to jump high, if you want to jump something like 6.15m,” Duplantis said at the pre-event press conference.

“I’m getting into that shape, for sure.

“It’s going to be the first competition in a long time that me, Sam, Renaud, the whole gang has been competing with each other since the indoor season, so I don’t want to get too ahead of myself too early. I want to go out there and I want to win. If I win then we’ll try to take some shots at something high then.”

The men’s and women’s competitions will take place at the same time and British record-holder Holly Bradshaw features in the women’s field.

The 28-year-old claimed her first Diamond League victory after clearing 4.69m in Stockholm.

She again goes up against Michaela Meijer and Angelica Bengtsson, plus 2017 world medallist Robeilys Peinado.

“It’s a good field, it will be very competitive,” said Bradshaw, “so I’d like to think that I could finish in the top two.”

Entry lists and live results can be found here.

The action gets under way at 18:05 local time (17:05 UK).
