DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Veteran NASCAR competitor Mike Wallace, who has made three NASCAR Xfinity Series starts this year, has been indefinitely suspended by the sanctioning body.

The suspension is the result of a behavioral violation.

The NASCAR penalty report states Wallace violated Sections 12.1, 12.8 and 12.8.1.e. The final section states:

“Member actions that could result in a fine and/or indefinite suspension, or termination:

“Public statement and/or communication that criticizes, ridicules, or otherwise disparages another person based upon that person’s race, color, creed, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, marital status, religion, age, or handicapping condition.”

Wallace will have to complete sensitivity training as directed by NASCAR.

The 61-year-old driver made his return to NASCAR competition this season for the first time since 2015 by competing in three events for JD Motorsports in the NASCAR Xfinity Series.

During his lengthy career Wallace has contested 809 events in NASCAR’s three national divisions. He’s earned five NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series victories and four NASCAR Xfinity Series starts. He has a best finish of second in NASCAR Cup Series competition.
