ROSEVILLE, Calif. — Derek Thorn looks to continue his dominance in the SPEARS SRL Southwest Tour as it returns to action Saturday night at All American Speedway.
Thorn added his fourth victory in the season’s six races when the series visited the third-mile asphalt track on Aug. 16.
Despite having not raced at All American Speedway since 2012, he’s won four times in seven starts there. He hopes to continue that streak in Saturday’s JM Environmental Inc. Wild West Shootout Round No. 2, featuring the Thunderstruck 127 presented by 51 FIFTY.
Thorn holds a 132-point championship lead over Linny White in his hunt for his series’ record fifth title.
Thorn won the August visit in dramatic style, spinning late in the event and charging through the field to take the lead with seven laps remaining.
White is hoping to rebound from a disappointing 13th-place finish in August, while defending series champion Cole Moore is hoping to close on the frontrunners.
The winner’s share of the purse will be $5,000 – with an extra bonus for the driver leading lap 27. The SRL Tour will be joined by the NASCAR late models, limited modifieds, super stocks, F4, junior late models and the bandoleros and mini cups.
All events will be streamed by SPEED SPORT Network affiliates.
The SPEARS Southwest Tour Series event can be seen on SpearsRacing.TV, with all NASCAR Weekly Series divisions shown by AllAmericanSpeedway.TV.
