The World Athletics Continental Tour Gold series concludes on Saturday (Oct 3) with the Kip Keino Classic meeting in Nairobi, Kenya.
A number of the host nation’s star endurance runners are in action such as 3000m steeplechase world champion Beatrice Chepkoech and the woman who beat her in Berlin last month, Hyvin Kiyeng.
Hellen Obiri, the world 5000m and world cross-country champion, races 5000m on Saturday, while Timothy Cheruiyot, the world 1500m gold medallist, competes in his specialist metric mile distance in the Kenyan capital at 1700m altitude.
International entries include British sprinter Kristal Awuah, who has enjoyed a busy late summer season.
The event is named after the 1968 and 1972 Olympic champion and is held at the Nyayo National Stadium as Kenya gradually reopens following a coronavirus lockdown.
