#13 Texas A&M vs. #2 Alabama: Extended Highlights | CBS Sports HQ #13 Texas A&M vs. #2 Alabama: Extended Highlights | CBS Sports HQ
No. 2 Alabama leads No. 13 Texas A&M 42-17 after three quarters in a game that could have been a lot closer. Things started well for the Aggies on their opening drive, as they moved down the field into the Alabama red zone before stalling out and settling for a field goal attempt. That attempt would miss, and three plays later, Alabama's Mac Jones was hitting John Metchie for a 78-yard touchdown to put the Tide up 7-0. A&M would battle back, however, rallying from 14-0 to tie the game 14-14 early in the second quarter, but the Aggies have shot themselves in the foot ever since. After Alabama took the lead back, Kellen Mond threw a pick-six on a third-and-long as Daniel Wright undercut a route and took it 47 yards the other way. Then, on A&M's next drive, Mond hit Ainias Smith on a third down for what should have been an easy first down. Instead, Smith, who scored a spectacular 47-yard touchdown earlier in the half, dropped the ball. Alabama then marched 64 yards in eight plays before Mac Jones found Devonta Smith in the back of the end zone to go up 35-14 with 22 seconds left in the half. In the third quarter, the Aggies threatened to make a game of it, but after forcing an Alabama three-and-out, their impressive drive once again stalled and they had to settle for a field goal. Then, in a case of deja vu, Mac Jones hit Jaylen Waddle for a 78-yard touchdown a few plays later to make it 42-17.
