CONCORD, N.C. – Clint Bowyer has announced he will vacate the Stewart-Haas Racing No. 14 Ford Mustang at the end of the season to join the FOX NASCAR broadcast team.

Bowyer, whose contract with Stewart-Haas Racing was set to expire at the end of the season, made the announcement via his official Twitter account early Thursday evening.

Bowyer, 41, is currently in his 15th season of NASCAR Cup Series competition and his fourth as part of the Stewart-Haas Racing team. The native of Emporia, Kan., started his NASCAR Cup Series career driving for Richard Childress Racing in 2006, earning his first series victory one year later en route to a third-place championship finish in 2007.

He departed Richard Childress Racing to join Michael Waltrip Racing in 2012. He enjoyed his best season that year, winning three races en route to a runner-up result in the NASCAR Cup Series standings.

Following the demise of Michael Waltrip Racing in 2015, Bowyer joined HScott Motorsports before landing at Stewart-Haas Racing in 2017. He earned two victories for the team in 2018, his only victories for the team co-owned by Gene Haas and Tony Stewart.

In addition to his career at NASCAR’s top level, claimed 2008 championship in the NASCAR Xfinity Series. He’s earned eight Xfinity Series and three NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series wins during his career.

Stewart-Haas Racing has not announced who will replace Bowyer in the No. 14, but Bowyer’s departure opens the door for NASCAR Xfinity Series standout Chase Briscoe to move up and take over the No. 14.
