LE MANS, France – Fabio Quartararo starred in his home country on Saturday by earning the pole for the MotoGP SHARK Helmets Grand Prix de France on the Bugatti Circuit.
Quartararo, riding for Petronas Yamaha SRT, topped the charts with a 1:31.315 on his final lap. That final lap run denied Pramac Racing’s Jack Miller from earning the pole. He’ll start second during Sunday’s race.
Danilo Petrucci came from Q1 to qualify third, his first front row start of the season for Ducati.
Cal Crutchlow qualified fourth to lead the second row for LCR Honda Castrol, followed by Monster Energy Yamaha rider Maverick Vinales and Ducati’s Andrea Dovizioso.
The remainder of the top-10 included Francesco Bagnaia, Pol Espargaro, Johann Zarco and Valentino Rossi.
Suzuki’s Joan Mir, who entered the weekend second in the MotoGP standings behind Quartararo, failed to qualify out of Q1. He’ll start Sunday’s race from the 14th position.
