Legspinner Praveen Dubey has been named as Amit Mishra's replacement at Delhi Capitals. Mishra was ruled out of the IPL after suffering an injury to his finger on October 3, and subsequently needed surgery.
Dubey, who hails from Uttar Pradesh but plays domestic cricket for Karnataka, has been part of the IPL before, being bought by Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2016 and 2017, but is yet to play a game in the tournament. In the 2019 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, he took six wickets in eight games as Karnataka won the domestic T20 tournament.
Dubey had broken into the Karnataka List-A side in 2015-16, after impressive performances in the Karnataka Premier League. He picked up seven wickets in six matches for Hubli Tigers at an economy rate of 5.90 in the 2014-15 edition and had bettered that the following season, taking eight wickets in nine KPL matches for Belgavi Panthers at an economy rate of 6.89.
Overall, Dubey has played in 14 T20s, taking 16 wickets at an average of 19.12 and an economy of 6.87. Along with R Ashwin, Axar Patel and Sandeep Lamichhane, Dubey is now the fourth spin bowler in the Capitals squad and the second legspinner.
