SOUTH AMHERST, Ohio – The inaugural season for the Must See Racing Lights Series will conclude Sunday afternoon at Lorain County Raceway Park during the Halloween Spectacular of Speed.

The day’s racing activities will include a variety of different racing classes, including the Must See Racing Midwest Lights Series.

The Must See Racing Lights Series debuted in 2020 with a six-race schedule. Unfortunately, COVID-19 forced the cancelation of all but three events.

The winged 602 crate series was launched by MSR when the northern Ohio teams were displaced after LCRP temporarily shuttered its doors early in 2019. ‘

The series was initially planned to attract new young talent to sprint car racing, and was also viewed by MSR as a feeder system for its already-successful 410 winged series.

One of the primary reasons for the debut of the MSR Lights Series was to create a constant flow of cars for the parent series for years to come. The series has proved useful straight out of the gate.

Four crate series teams that competed with MSR in 2019 made the switch to a 410 engine prior to 2020 and another team will make the switch in time for 2021. To say the series has been successful would be an understatement.

Entering the final event of the 2020 season, Dylan Watson holds a nine-point lead over J.J. Henes. The top four in points are separated by 20 points, and an inaugural MSR Lights champion will be crowned at the conclusion of Sunday’s season finale.

Charlie Schultz won the inaugural event at Shady Bowl Speedway in DeGraff, Ohio on July 3 and J.J. Henes captured the most recent event at LCRP on Aug. 15.

Other drivers expected to complete include Jason Rader, Tim Henthorne, Joey Wyckoff, James Rader, Joshua Sexton, Brenden Torok and Justin Stanley.

Sunday’s event will be a one-day format for the MSR Lights, with practice, qualifying, heat races, and a 30-lap feature event on tap.
