Toronto Raptors guard Terence Davis was arrested in New York City on Tuesday night on charges of assaulting a woman and criminal mischief, police said.
The incident happened shortly before 10 p.m. in an apartment building on the East Side of Manhattan, police said.
The Raptors said they were aware of reports about the incident and were in the process of gathering more information.
Davis, 23, averaged 7.5 points in 72 regular-season games for the Raptors as a rookie last season and then 7.2 points over six appearances during Toronto's postseason run inside the NBA's bubble at the Walt Disney World Resort.
Toronto signed Davis last summer in Las Vegas after a standout performance in his first summer league game for the Denver Nuggets after he was undrafted out of Ole Miss. He was an All-Rookie Second Team selection last season after earning a consistent spot in coach Nick Nurse's rotation.
