NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Dylan Fetcho set a new pro late model track record en route to earning the JEGS/CRA All Stars Tour pole Saturday evening at Fairgrounds Speedway Nashville.
Fetcho, the 27th of 41 cars to take time, smashed the old mark of 19.259 seconds set by Bubba Pollard by nearly four tenths of a second en route to top qualifying honors.
He bested late model star Stephen Nasse’s time in the second half of the qualifying session and ultimately edged out Michael House by a scant .007 seconds in the end.
Fetcho’s pole-winning mark was a time of 18.891 seconds (113.578 mph) around the five-eighths-mile paved oval just outside of downtown Nashville.
“That was crazy,” Fetcho said of his lap. “I just told myself I was going to drive it in as far as I could, and I did … and it worked out.
“I knew what Nasse’s lap was, and I felt like we could run a 90 (18.90-second lap), but to get in the 80s was just crazy. I can’t believe it, really.”
House will join Fetcho on the front row after a lap of 18.898 seconds (113.536 mph) in his black No. 1. Nasse hung on for third ahead of Austin Wilson and Hunter Wright.
The top 24 drivers were locked into Sunday’s 100-lap JEGS/CRA All Stars Tour feature based on the qualifying times they posted Saturday.
JoJo Wilkinson was the last driver to lock into the field on speed, besting 25th-place JP Crabtree by .005 seconds.
