Williams Back With DGM Racing In Xfinity Series

MARTINSVILLE, Va. — Officials from DGM Racing confirmed Saturday afternoon that Josh Williams will return for his third full season of NASCAR Xfinity Series competition next year.

Williams will again pilot the No. 92 Chevrolet Camaro, marking his fourth year with the team owned by driver-turned car owner Mario Gosselin.

The announcement was made as part of Williams’ special #JoshOLantern paint scheme for the Draft Top 250 at Martinsville Speedway, featuring a special hood graphic with the text, “Josh Williams, #DriverOfThe92, DGM Racing 2021.”

Williams, 27, has enjoyed a career year as the lead driver in Gosselin’s three-car DGM arsenal.

He has six top-10 finishes in 31 races this year, a single-season record by a DGM driver. Williams entered the Martinsville round a career-best 15th in the standings with two races remaining.

Williams has also reset his career-best finish in Xfinity Series competition twice in the past four races, with a seventh-place effort at Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway in October followed by a sixth-place finish at Kansas Speedway two weeks later.

The Florida native was in playoff contention for much of the regular season, before a rough late-summer stretch dropped his point standing. It’s that consistency that Williams hopes to build on as he and DGM Racing target a maiden playoff berth together in 2021.

“I can’t say thank you enough to Mario and Michelle (Gosselin) for believing in me and now bringing me back into their family for another season next year,” said Williams, who has earned three top 10s in his last four Xfinity Series starts. “It’s been a lot of fun driving their race cars and this team is more than just a race team, it really is a family. We’re all really tight-knit and it’s been a lot of fun to have the success that we’ve had. We’ve grown a ton this year as a group and I’m pumped about what’s ahead for all of us. I think next year you’ll see us do some more great things.

“When I first started driving for Mario, I knew there was a lot of potential in his team and I think you’ve seen us realize some of that potential this year,” Williams added. “We’re not content with what we’ve done so far, and we want to keep building. We want to be fighting for top 10s. We want to be fighting for the playoffs. We believe we can do that and we’ve taken a lot of steps toward those goals.

“Next year is going to be a lot of fun; we’re going to enjoy it and I’m really looking forward to it.”

Gosselin was quick to note his appreciation for Williams’ contributions as DGM Racing has evolved into a formidable Xfinity Series contender.

“We’re excited to have Josh back for 2021 and we’re really looking forward to continuing the progress we’ve made with him since he first came to us in 2018,” Gosselin said. “From day one, Josh has been very driven toward success and he’s become an integral part of our organization. He’s motivated behind the wheel, he takes care of his equipment and he always gets the most out of our race cars every time he’s on the race track. Those are all qualities we value here at DGM Racing.

“I’m excited to have him back for another year and we look forward to many more successes with Josh.”

Following the conclusion of Saturday’s race at Martinsville, Williams will wrap up the Xfinity Series season at Arizona’s Phoenix Raceway on Nov. 7.
