Dishang 2020 ITTF Women’s World Cup: Final Day

One game away for Sun

Another game, another Sun Yingsha victory. The pattern here is pretty evident, and Mima Ito just cannot gather a foothold in this match.

Sun wins the third game 11-6, and had a mammoth 7-point lead at one juncture of the game. Is the Chinese heading to the final?

Sun in complete control

The Chinese youngster is in full flow against the Japanese star, as Sun Yingsha takes the second game 11-8 to give herself a 2-0 lead.

The trend  seem to have continued in another 10 minute game, as both athletes are stretching each other out at the table. The technique seems to be working for Sun though, as Ito lost key battles on her own serve – and six points!

Striking first

Sun Yingsha has struck first here against Mima Ito after a 10 minute drawn out opening game of the semi-final of the Women’s World Cup (12-10).

Service seems to be key here, as both players are winning similar points off the other (five for Sun, six for Ito) – will this trend continue?

What’s coming your way?

Just four players remain in the title hunt. The first semi-final to be decided sees the battle of the young guns as Mima Ito and Sun Yingsha face one another – Chen Meng and Han Ying meet in the upper half of the draw soon after.
