EAGLE RIVER, Wis. – Part-time NASCAR Camping World Truck Series driver Natalie Decker announced on social media Wednesday she has tested positive for COVID-19.

As a result, Decker will not compete in this weekend’s Trans-Am Series doubleheader at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta in Braselton, Ga.

Decker was scheduled to make her Trans-Am national SGT class debut, driving for Tony Ave in the No. 04 N29 Technologies LLC Audi R8 GT4.

Decker drove full time in the Trans-Am West Coast Championship this season, where she ranked second in the championship and was coming off a victory at Circuit of The Americas.

“In what seems to be the unfortunate theme of 2020, I can’t make my last race of the year with Ave Motorsports because I have tested positive for COVID-19,” Decker said in a statement posted to her Twitter account. “This has been a roller coaster year with many setbacks, but nothing will break me. I sat with this news for a few days and couldn’t figure out how to tell [everyone] that my last race of the year will not be happening. I’m very sad and upset, as I wanted to end this year on a high note.

“I’ll be missing this race, but the main focus is to get healthy and I am doing everything I can to do so.”

Aside from her Trans-Am exploits, Decker spent most of her time in NASCAR this season.

The 23-year-old raced in 13 of 23 Truck Series events with Niece Motorsports, earning a season-best result of fifth in the opener at Daytona (Fla.) Int’l Speedway in February.

The Daytona race was Decker’s lone top-five finish of her limited Truck campaign.
