MOORESVILLE, N.C. – Matt Tifft and B.J. McLeod revealed the name of their new NASCAR Cup Series team, Live Fast Motorsports, on Friday morning.
The No. 78 Ford Mustang will compete on a full-time basis at NASCAR’s top level starting next season. B.J. McLeod will pilot the entry under the charter that Tifft and McLeod obtained from Go Fas Racing, alongside Joe Falk.
Live Fast Motorsports also confirmed a strategic partnership with Stewart-Haas Racing, with the aim of navigating its debut season and developing a successful Cup Series team.
“Live Fast Motorsports is excited to be joining an incredible group of owners, as well as the new teams and ownership coming into the sport,” Tifft and McLeod said in a team statement. “NASCAR’S Next Gen car and model for teams will provide opportunities for new teams to compete at a higher level. Live Fast Motorsports and its partners are ready to take on the challenge to grow and develop as a team.”
McLeod made 16 NASCAR Cup Series starts this season, with 13 of them coming in his own No. 78 fielded under the B.J. McLeod Motorsports banner.
His best finish was 22nd at Indianapolis Motor Speedway during the Brickyard 400.
