MOORESBURG, Tenn. – Four months after being injured in a motorcycle accident in Florida, Scott Bloomquist will return to the cockpit of his No. 0 dirt late model this weekend during the Dirt Late Model Dream at Eldora Speedway.
Bloomquist took part in a private test on Tuesday to determine if he was able to compete this weekend. The test went well and Bloomquist will officially return to action this week at Eldora Speedway.
“I fully expected to be ready and up to speed but I still wanted to make sure my range of motion and comfortability was where it needed to be,” said Bloomquist. “It just seems meant to be. I wouldn’t want to return anywhere else or at any other event if I had a choice.
“I wanted to make sure nobody got a freebie.”
Shannon Babb, who originally was set to drive the Scott Bloomquist Racing No. 0 entry during the Dirt Late Model Dream, will now drive a second car fielded by the team.
“The test was unbelievable, when you have a car that feels so much different and has that kind of speed it certainly makes it hard to think about not being able to finish the deal,” said Babb. “Of course you want Scott to return, so it is bitter sweet when that happens but thankfully Scott and Cody (Sommer) have given me the opportunity to run the car at the Dream and I couldn’t be more excited about this weekends race.”
