PENSACOLA, Fla. – Josh Hicks led the overall speed charts after three rounds of pro late model practice for the Allen Turner Hyundai Snowflake 100 Thursday at Five Flags Speedway.

Hicks set the fast lap of the day during the second session of the trio, posting a time of 16.859 seconds (106.768 mph) in his black and white No. 38.

Lurking close behind Hicks on the combined practice sheets was past eNASCAR Coca-Cola iRacing Series champion Ryan Luza, making his return to Five Flags Speedway after winning the pro late model track title at the historic half-mile oval in 2015.

Luza led the way during Snowflake 100 Happy Hour at 16.866 seconds (106.724 mph) in a Jett Motorsports entry carrying his familiar No. 53, with iRacing sponsorship on the hood.

Super late model practice leader Derek Thorn was third overall with his pro car, timing in at 16.892 seconds (106.559 mph) to pace the morning session prior to lunch.

Oddly enough, during that opening practice, the three practice leaders – Thorn, Luza and Hicks – finished first, second and third, respectively, on the board.

Hunter Jack and John DeAngelis filled out the front five in combined Snowflake practice speeds from Thursday.

Young gun Grant Thompson impressed in Augie Grill’s No. 112, landing inside the top six in the last two practices of the day, while perennial contender Bubba Pollard only took to the track during pro late model Happy Hour and was sixth quick at the end of that session.

Snowflake 100 qualifying will hit the track Saturday at 2 p.m. CT.
