Austin McCarl Looking To Hit The Road Next Year

ALTOONA, Iowa – Austin McCarl is hoping to expand his team or land a new opportunity that will allow him to add more traveling to his sprint car schedule next year.

“2020 was undoubtedly a strange season for everyone, but I am very happy with the results we put together in the races we were able to run. I am also very thankful for the opportunities that popped up along the way,” McCarl said. “With 2021 on the horizon, I would love the opportunity to travel more whether it be with a new team or running it in the family car if we could secure the much-needed sponsorship.”

McCarl comes off of a strong season that saw him capture his first All Star Circuit of Champions feature event win during the series’ visit to Park Jefferson Speedway. Doing it in thrilling fashion, McCarl was able to go toe-to-toe with series champion Aaron Reutzel to grab the elusive win.

Sneaking in a few more ASCoC shows during 2020, McCarl was able to pick up another podium with the series to go along with two more top-five finishes.

At Knoxville (Iowa) Raceway, McCarl had another strong run during weekly campaign that saw him finish second in the season standings on the strength of two feature event wins. With the weekly season leading up to the annual 360 Nationals and the Capitani Classic, which took place of the Knoxville Nationals, McCarl was able to flex some muscle during the star-studded two weeks.

Picking up the win during his preliminary night feature at the 360 Nationals, McCarl would go on to run very well in 410 sprint car action during the Capitani Classic and finish eighth during Saturday night’s championship feature.

The theme of career bests continued for the third-generation driver with the World of Outlaws. While he still is in search of that first career win, he was able to pocket a career best finish via a second place run at Jackson (Minn.) Motorplex.

A strong summer in the Midwest garnered some attention out West as McCarl ended his season with a couple of runs in the famed Roth Motorsports car in California. McCarl was able to compete at Keller Auto Speedway in Hanford, Calif., and the Stockton Dirt Track in Stockton, Calif., and pick up four top-10 finishes, two of which were top-five runs.

“I am extremely thankful to all of the partners that stuck with us and allowed us to run the races that were available to us,” McCarl added. “To get our first ASCoC win was awesome, and to come close to our first World of Outlaw win was great for this team. I got a little bit of a taste for traveling, and in 2021 I am really hopeful for an opportunity to run a broader schedule. I think we showed we can run well against the best, and I would love the chance to do it on a weekly basis.”
