Tom Moody, the head coach of the Sunrisers Hyderabad at the IPL until the end of the 2019 season before Trevor Bayliss took up the job, has returned to the franchise, this time as director of cricket.

Moody, now 55, shifted to coaching after retiring as a player in 2001 - after winning two ODI World Cups with Australia in 1987 and 1999 - and joined the Sunrisers' backroom before the 2013 edition of the IPL. The first two seasons didn't go too well for Moody and the team, as they finished No. 6 both times, but then soared to the title in 2016 and haven't missed qualifying for the playoffs since: in 2017, they finished fourth; runners-up in 2018; fourth again in 2019; and third in the latest edition held in the UAE.
