GAFFNEY, S.C. – JD Motorsports with Gary Keller has confirmed that Jeffrey Earnhardt, the grandson of seven-time NASCAR Cup Series champion Dale Earnhardt, will contest the full NASCAR Xfinity Series season for the team in the No. 0 Chevrolet Camaro.
Earnhardt competed in 29 races for JD Motorsports with Gary Keller last season, earning 13 top-20 finishes and five top-15 finishes. In his career, Earnhardt has earned one top-five and three top-10 finishes in Xfinity Series competition.
“We got a late start and the plan was to run six to 12 races but something good was happening and by Bristol you could sense the momentum we were having,” said Earnhardt. “We came home in 15th in our third race and that’s an accomplishment when just a few weeks earlier we had no plans to work together. We had great partners join us and the season had some real bright spots to build on.”
Last season, Earnhardt’s best outings were finishes of 12th at Texas Motor Speedway and 11th at the Charlotte Motor Speedway ROVAL.
The team, headed by co-owners Johnny Davis and Gary Keller, experienced one of its best seasons to date in 2020. The team earned three top-10 finishes in Xfinity Series competition last season.
“We are all aware we are underdogs,” said Earnhardt. “We’re prepared for the hard work it will take to make the playoffs and with additional sponsorship I think we’ll turn some heads. I’m really excited to return to the No. 0 and look forward to working with Johnny to give the fans a blue collar team to cheer for.”
Sponsorship announcements for the No. 0 team and Earnhardt will be made at a later date.
Earnhardt will be a teammate to Colby Howard, who was announced as a full-time member of the JD Motorsports team last week.
