TULSA, Okla. – With 257 races now added to the history books, the 36th annual Lucas Oil Tulsa Shootout has only 39 rounds of action remaining with B-Features and Last Chance Qualifiers making up 32 of those races before the seven championship events.

Rolling through Friday’s action, 17 drivers are locked into at least one of Saturday’s championship events. Of those, Alex Bright has locked himself into three features.

The defending champion in the Stock Non-Wing division will get a chance to defend his title in that class while also having a shot to win Golden Drillers in both Outlaw features.

Six past Shootout champions are locked into two events each. Chris Andrews will seek his first in A-Class and his third in Outlaw Non-Wing, having topped the class in 2013 and ’16. Christopher Bell, who as the Outlaw champion in 2018, is set to compete in both Stock features. Emerson Axsom, who is the defending Outlaw champion, will get the chance to defend that title and possibly add Outlaw Non-Wing to his resume. Trying to make it to five wins, Frank Flud, who topped the event in 2014, is already set in both Outlaw divisions.

The only driver to win three Golden Drillers in the same year in Micro action, Jason McDougal is among those locked into multiple features after securing starting spots in the Outlaw and A-Class features. Winning the 55-lap feature from last in 2017, Joe B. Miller will have another shot at the crown, along with A-Class.

In all, 29 Golden Drillers are already represented in Saturday’s championship lineup. Those locked into one feature include Austin Wood, Brady Bacon, Caden Steele, Chad Dugan, Jadon Rogers, Jake Hagopian, Jett Barnes, Jonathan Beason, Kyle Spence and Ty Hulsey.

The 36th annual Tulsa Shootout continues Saturday with Race No. 258 of the week kicking off the day’s action. The River Spirit Expo Center opens at 8 a.m. with action on track at 11 a.m. (CT).

Masks are required while inside the River Spirit Expo Center. Those who are not wearing one will be escorted out of the event.
