SPEEDWAY, Ind. — The USAC Eastern SpeeD2 Midget schedule will feature 20 races at 13 paved tracks in seven states.
Sixteen of the 20 events will count toward the championship while four others are non-points special events. The four special events, in fact, bookend the season with two such races on March 19-20 at Havasu 95 Speedway in Lake Havasu, Ariz. The series makes a return trip to Lake Havasu for two more special events to conclude the campaign on Nov. 12-13.
The points season launches on April 10 at Virginia’s Shenandoah Speedway, then is followed by a pair of dates on April 23-24 at Anderson Motor Speedway in Williamston, S.C.
Veterans Motorplex in Greenbrier, Tenn., and Kentucky Motor Speedway in Whitesville, Ky., make up two multi-race weekends for the series during the season.
A doubleheader weekend sees the series at Greenbrier on May 15 and Whitesville on May 16. In August, the series returns to the same two venues with Whitesville leading off on Aug. 5, followed by Greenbrier on Aug. 6 and the Nashville (Tenn.) Fairgrounds Speedway concluding the tripleheader weekend on Aug. 7.
Dominion Raceway in Spotsylvania, Va. welcomes the series on both June 5 and Oct. 2, while a single date will be held at West Virginia’s Ona Speedway on July 10, marking USAC’s first visit to the track since Lennie Waldo’s National Sprint Car feature victory there in 1969.
Also hosting single dates for the series are Wake County Speedway (Raleigh, N.C.) on July 23; South Carolina’s Dillon Motor Speedway on July 24; Lonesome Pine Raceway in Coeburn, Va., on Sept. 4; Tri-County Motor Speedway in Hudson, N.C., on Sept. 18; and Orange County Speedway in Rougemont, N.C., on Oct. 23.
