SAN TAN VALLEY, Ariz. – Jonathan Davenport banked more than $35,000 for his third victory during the Wild West Shootout miniseries on Sunday night at FK Rod Ends Arizona Speedway.
Davenport topped the 50-lap finale of the six-race series to earn the $25,000 prize, while also pocketing a $10,000 bonus for winning three of the six races held. He earned another $3,000 for claiming the division championship during the six-race series.
The multi-time Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series started second and took the lead on the opening lap. He held the top spot for the remainder of the race, surviving several restarts and a late charge from his week-long rival Tyler Erb.
Davenport had to work his way through slower traffic in the final stages of the race, allowing Erb to close the gap to less than half a second. However, he couldn’t get close enough to challenge Davenport, who went on to pick up the victory.
Erb, who won two features during the Wild West Shootout, finished second. Ricky Thornton Jr. was third, nearly two seconds behind Davenport. Brian Shirley and Bobby Pierce completed the top-five.
