The latest report highlights ITTF Foundation’s efforts in adapting to the pandemic, as well as our achievements in 2020, including supporting 47 initiatives with #TableTennisUnited fund; 171 countries and territories played in the longest Table Tennis rally to celebrate World Table Tennis Day (WTTD); more than EUR 10,000 worth of equipment donated to the Iran Table Tennis Federation, assisting provinces hit by flooding; and three Dream Building projects that were able to restart, allowing us to support those in need and foster positive social outcomes through Table Tennis.
Partners are critical to our work here at the Foundation. In 2020, over 80% of the ITTF Member Associations participated in at least one Foundation activity. Project managers in the field have shown great strength and resilience to keep their local participants engaged through creative ideas.
Hundreds of children and people with disabilities in Za’atari and Azraq refugee camps in Jordan were able to continue their training sessions, exploring their potential despite the hardship. Emergency funds made possible by #TableTennisUnited have come to aid in the Covid-19 pandemic. With donations from all over the world, we help the global Table Tennis community overcome difficulties in times such as these.
Even as ITTF Foundation looks back to 2020, our focus is on the future. The far-reaching impact of the Covid-19 crisis on mankind calls for action to strengthen services and systems. As inequality and turbulence grows with the global pandemic, the ITTF Foundation uses Table Tennis as a tool, to respond, recover and reshape a world fit for all.
“ITTF Foundation stays close to the Table Tennis community, adapts to the needs of people and circumstances. In 2020, we learnt to promote social togetherness while respecting physical distance.
Thanks to the ITTF Foundation Governing Board and Board of Trustees for their guidance, to the ITTF Executive Committee and the ITTF Family for their support, but especially to our team for their hard work and dedication to serve the community during this special time.” Leandro Olvech, ITTF Foundation Director
