Toss Sri Lanka chose to bat vs Bangladesh
Kusal Perera won the toss and chose to bat first against Bangladesh in the third and final ODI in Dhaka and announced a raft of changes after having lost the first two games and conceded the three-match series. Niroshan Dickwella is back, and will keep wickets, while three debutants will be in action for the visiting side: Ramesh Mendis, Chamika Karunaratne and Binura Fernando. The players to go out are Dasun Shanaka, Ashen Bandara, Isuru Udana and Lakshan Sandakan. Bangladesh have made a change too, and a big one at that, with Liton Das going out and Mohammad Naim coming in. That aside, Mohammad Saifuddin, who suffered a concussion and had to be substituted in the second game, is out, and Taskin Ahmed, who had been the concussion substitute then, is in the XI. Das has been dropped for the first time since the 2019 World Cup. He lost his place after failing to make a contribution of note in eight innings - the 25 he scored in the last game is his highest in this period. His position had also been questioned by BCB president Nazmul Hassan during the first ODI. Of the Sri Lanka debutants, allrounder Mendis recently played in the Test series against Bangladesh in Pallekele, while 24-year-old fast bowler Karunaratne has also played one Test, and Fernando is a tall left-arm quick who played two T20Is against Pakistan in 2015.
