Premiership: Newcastle Falcons 24-14 Worcester Warriors - Adam Radwan scores twice

Newcastle enjoyed a comfortable bonus-point victory to condemn bottom-of-the-table Worcester to another defeat.

Adam Radwan's spectacular fourth-minute try was followed by a 23-metre driving maul finished off by George McGuigan.

Radwan collected his own kick behind the Warriors defence for his second as the visitors ended the half pointless.

Sean Robinson secured the bonus point after 56 minutes before Worcester scored late consolation tries through Jamie Shillcock and Ted Hill.

Radwan's spectacular diving finish gave Falcons a dream start, with the winger dotting down one-handed following a flowing team move.

If the first was a triumph for the backs, the second was one for the forwards, with a driving maul from a line-out seeing Newcastle splinter the Warriors pack to move swiftly towards the line and allow McGuigan to drop over the line.

Radwan had his second after 19 minutes, collecting Luther Burrell's looping pass before kicking behind the Warriors defence and beating the covering Noah Heward to the ball.

Warriors head coach Jonathan Thomas changed the entire front row after 25 minutes and a penalty soon followed, but Duncan Weir missed from the tee and Worcester remained scoreless at the break.

The visitors made a better start to the second period but fluffed a golden opportunity after 53 minutes when Shillcock's pass failed to find the unmarked Tom Dodd, with the ball rolling harmlessly into touch.

Falcons secured the bonus-point try three minutes later when second row Robinson picked a great line through the defence before sidestepping Shillcock to cross the whitewash.

Worcester finally got over the line 11 minutes from time when England centre Ollie Lawrence made a powerful burst before offloading to Shillcock to finish.

Hill then crossed with three minutes to go, using the advantage to pick up a loose ball that had been deliberately knocked on by Falcons substitute hooker Jamie Blamire, for which he was yellow-carded.

Since opening the season by beating London Irish in November, Warriors have lost all 18 league matches they have played since, with their only other two 'wins' awarded for Covid-postponed games.
