Golden State Warriors swingman Klay Thompson is making "good progress" in his rehabilitation from a right Achilles injury and will participate in "controlled drills" during training camp, but his return within the season will be made at a later date, the team announced Monday.

Thompson, who tore his left ACL during Game 6 of the 2019 NBA Finals, and then tore his Achilles last November while rehabbing, said last season that he was confident that he would return to play at a high level. He was also unclear exactly when he would return in the upcoming season.

ESPN's Ramona Shelburne reported last month that the Warriors were targeting Christmas, or somewhere near Dec. 25, as a possible return window.

The Warriors also announced Monday that second year center James Wiseman is also making "good progress" in his rehabilitation from a meniscus tear, and will participate in "individual on-court activities" during training camp, but has not been cleared for "full jumping."

Wiseman, who suffered the meniscus tear in his right knee on April 10, will not be ready to start the season. Wiseman, the No. 2 overall pick in the 2020 Draft, averaged 11.5 points and 5.8 rebounds in an up-and-down rookie campaign.
