The Australian was in unstoppable form right from her qualification rounds where she defeated Belarus’ Darya Kisel and Renata Lacenova from the Slovak Republic in straight games. After receiving a bye in the Round of 32, Liu showed similar class by dispatching Slovak Republic’s Eliska Stullerova in the Round of 16 before eliminating Emine Ernst from the Netherland in the quarter-final and India’s Swastika Ghosh in the semi-final.

The final showdown with Singapore’s Zhou Jingyi was also a straightforward affair as Liu outplayed the Singaporean 3-0 (13-11, 11-6, 11-5) to claim her second victory at WTT Youth Series after her breakthrough at WTT Youth Contender Lignano in Italy last week.

“I’m really delighted with this win as it means a lot to me. I’m enjoying my good form at the moment, and I hope to continue playing well,” said Liu.

In the Under-15 Girls’ Singles final, India’s Saini Suhana defeated Singapore’s Ser Lin Qian 3-0 (12-10, 11-7, 11-9) for her fourth WTT Youth Series title. Suhana’s latest victory adds to her proud record of wins at WTT Youth Contender Otocec and WTT Youth Contender Tunis in September, followed by WTT Youth Contender Muscat last month.

“Staying patience was key for me this week. I focused on every point and attacked whenever there was an opportunity. It worked out well, and I’m so happy. I believed in myself and knew I could do well despite facing all the strong opponents,” said Suhana.

It was also a proud moment for Dhanni Jain as the 11-year-old Indian clinched the Under-11 Girls’ Singles title by beating Czech Republic’s Hanka Kodetova 3-1 (11-2,11-3, 9-11, 11-5).

“All my hard work paid off, and I’m so excited with my win. This will motivate me to do better and continue to play well,” said the young Indian.

Attention at WTT Youth Contender Senec turns to the Boys’ competition where play resumes on Friday with the five events – Under-19, Under-17, Under-15, Under-13 and Under-11 contested.
