Opened with a warm welcome from ITTF President Thomas Weikert, the presentation started with a progress report showcasing the highlights of ITTF’s Good Governance journey.
The following speakers led proceedings over the course of the conference:
Nestor Tenca, ITTF Executive Vice-President:
“The ITTF Tribunal and the Head of Integrity have become fully operational in 2021. The Ethics Commission, intended to become an Integrity Board, will become also fully independent at the next meeting of the ITTF Board.
“We must be all proud of the important progress done in the area of Good Governance during this quadrennial.”
Rudolf Sporrer, Rules Committee Chair:
“From the Rules Committee’s point of view the presentation of Propositions & Resolutions was a most welcome service to Member Associations for preparing their voting at the Annual General Meeting.
“It also showed the serious and thoughtful approach of the ITTF leadership to future Good Governance and Integrity regulations.”
Jorge Ibarrola, ITTF Tribunal Chair:
“In spite of the difficult circumstances that changed our lives during the last 18 months, ITTF has successfully set up and implemented its Tribunal, as well as the regulations applicable to the proceedings that will be referred to the ITTF Tribunal.
“I have been honoured to be appointed as the ITTF tribunal President and will chair a distinguished panel composed of three ladies and three gentlemen, coming from all over the world. Together with the ITTF General Secretariat, the ITTF Tribunal members have put in place an efficient organisation and logistics and are fully prepared to deal with any possible dispute for its resolution.
“Our commitment is to deliver justice with the highest standards, meeting the expectations of both the institutional bodies of the ITTF and of all members of Table Tennis worldwide. We trust however that ITTF will need our services as little as possible.”
Raul Calin, ITTF Secretary General:
“The pandemic has been an accelerator for the digitalisation of the world, and the sporting community has not been oblivious to it. These videoconferences suppose an extra effort from the ITTF administration, but the outcome and the very positive feedback received show that it is a worthy investment.
“Our Member Associations are better informed, in a timely manner, so they can better prepare for the upcoming Annual General Meeting. Our thanks to the ITTF Executive Committee members involved, the ITTF Rules Committee, the ITTF Tribunal, the Head of Integrity and the Legal Counsel for their valuable input and support in this important governance task.”
Assisted by ITTF Legal Counsel Dylan Mah, Calin also presented the propositions and resolutions for the 2021 AGM.
