In a group organised event, Thais Severo joined forces with Juliana da Silva and Raisa da Silva to secure the women’s team class 1-5 title.

They finished ahead of the host nation’s Maria Garrone and Nayla Kuell.

Men’s events

Likewise, in the men’s events Guilherme da Costa partnered colleague Iranildo Espindola to gold in class 1-2; also, a group administered competition the pair finished ahead of Argentina’s Fernando Eberhardt, Luis Muñoz and Silvio Celli.

Meanwhile, in class 3-5, Gabriel Copola joined forces with Elias Romero and Mauro Depergola to reserve the top prize; a 2-1 margin of victory being the outcome in the final when facing Chile’s Cristian Gonzalez, Maximiliano Rodriguez and Alfonso Diaz.

Runners up spot for Chile, in class 6-7 it was the title. A group administered event, Matias Pino, Ignacio Torres and Claudio Bahamondes emerged the winners; second place finished in the hands of the Czech Republic’s Daniel Horhut, Zbynek Lambert and Kristian Jelinek.

Brazilians in form

Meanwhile, in the remaining men’s team events it was success for Brazil.

Similarly in group competitions, in class 8, João Nascimento and Paulo Fonseca finished ahead of the partnership formed by Japan’s Arufuahirokazu and Ecuador’s Paul Polo; in class 9-10, Claudio Massad and Lucas Carvalho secured the top prize at the expense of Chile’s Gustavo Castro and David Letelier.

Attention now turns to Central America, the three day ITTF Copa Costa Rica commences on Friday 10th December.
