The Golden State Warriors will be without Andrew Wiggins for at least Monday night's game against the Sacramento Kings after he was placed in the league's health and safety protocols.
Wiggins landed there Sunday, joining teammate Jordan Poole, who was added to the protocols last week.
Wiggins' vaccination status was a major storyline earlier in the season. He initially wasn't vaccinated, which would have made him ineligible to play home games until he met a San Francisco mandate that requires Golden State players to be vaccinated in order to play there unless they have an exemption for medical or religious reasons.
Wiggins' request for an exemption was denied, and he ultimately got vaccinated, saying later he felt "forced" to do so in order to continue his NBA career.
He also said previously that he had contracted COVID-19.
Wiggins will need two negative tests 24 hours apart to exit the protocols. After the Kings matchup, Golden State plays host to the Memphis Grizzlies on Thursday before visiting the Phoenix Suns on Christmas Day.
