Toss Pakistan Women opt to bowl vs West Indies Women
On a day when heavy rain followed by wet outfield delayed the toss by five hours and 25 minutes, Pakistan captain Bismah Maroof inserted West Indies in what was reduced to a 20-overs-a-side contest.
West Indies are currently third on the points table and need to win their two remaining matches to qualify for the semi-finals. If they lose another game, they will then be dependent on other results. Pakistan are at the bottom of the table, having lost 18 successive games in Women's World Cups.
Both sides made several changes. Pakistan brought in left-hander Muneeba Ali in place of opener Nahida Khan and left out legspinner Ghulam Fatima for Anam Amin.
West Indies brought in Kycia Knight, Shakera Selman and Anisa Mohammed for Rashada Williams, Shamilia Connell, who collapsed on the field in the previous game, and Karishma Ramharack.
The pitch was under cover all through the wet weather and Anjum Chopra, analysing it, said that it was quite dry and spinners will have a huge role to play.
