Rainbird's record 13-wicket haul helps Tasmania hammer Queensland

Tasmania 422 (Webster 166*, Doran 72, Sandhu 3-82) beat Queensland 104 (Rainbird 8-21) & 87 (Rainbird 5-21) by an innings and 231 runs

Paceman Sam Rainbird made Tasmanian Sheffield Shield history, taking a staggering 13 for 42 to record the state's best-ever match bowling figures in the competition.

Beau Webster blasted an unbeaten 166 but even that played second fiddle to Rainbird's incredible bowling as the Tigers thrashed Queensland inside two days.

Having produced the best innings Shield figures for Tasmania on day one with 8 for 21, Rainbird added the second record with 5 for 21 in the second innings as Queensland crumbled for 87 in Hobart.

Queensland had been ripped apart for 104 on day one. The visitors' match total of 191 was the second-lowest match aggregate for any team while losing all 20 wickets in the Sheffield Shield. They lost by a whopping innings and 231 runs after Tasmania made 422 with the bat.

Webster had earlier brought up his ton in the second session against Queensland and set about lifting the tempo, with his batting fireworks securing the Tigers vital bonus points as they pushed to try and claim a spot in the Sheffield Shield final but other results may well thwart them.

After No. 11 Gabe Bell helped Webster reach three figures in the day's second session, the duo set about a ripping 10th-wicket partnership added 87 runs off just 63 balls before Bell went for 19.

Webster's was in imperious touch through his seventh first-class hundred, his knock including 21 fours and five sixes, with many of them coming after he'd reached 100.

Jake Doran had reached 72 in the morning session before he was run out.

The Queensland second dig looked stable as Joe Burns (30) and Matt Renshaw (24) added 45 together for the second wicket, but that ended when Rainbird picked up his 10th scalp as the latter edged him to the keeper.

A complete capitulation ensued with Queensland losing 9 for 41 in total to slump from 1 for 46 to 87 all out.

Rainbird, who simply couldn't put a foot wrong, found the wickets of Jack Wildermuth and James Bazley within three balls, while Brad Hope was also on fire taking 3 for 12.
