South Carolina coach Will Muschamp sidestepped several questions about the officiating during his team's 38-27 loss to No. 9 Florida on Saturday.

But Muschamp couldn't help but answer when asked about an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty he received with about four minutes to go, after he passionately argued with officials on the sideline about a couple of apparent missed calls.

"The guy ran 40 yards away and dropped the flag," Muschamp told reporters in his postgame news conference. "I have no idea. I'd rather him drop it on my feet. ... Drop it on my feet next time."

When a reporter asked Muschamp about the officiating again, he replied: "I'm not going to comment about anything else. Don't go 40 yards away and drop a flag. How about that?"

Then, under his breath, Muschamp said, "Gutless."

Florida scored two touchdowns on plays in which SEC officials appeared to miss penalties against the Gators. Early in the third quarter, right tackle Jean Delance came out of his stance before the Gators snapped the ball on Dameon Pierce's 75-yard touchdown run that tied the score at 17.

Then in the fourth quarter, Gators receiver Josh Hammond appeared to commit offensive pass interference when he blocked a Gamecocks defensive back beyond the line of scrimmage before tight end Kyle Pitts' 5-yard touchdown catch, which gave Florida a 31-20 lead with 7:53 remaining.

Last season, the Gators rallied from a 17-point deficit to defeat the Gamecocks and their former coach 35-31.

"Get the lead in fourth quarter, got to make some plays," Muschamp said. "We didn't do that."

CONCORD, N.C. – John Jancic, a native of Cleveland, N.C., is no stranger to winning trophies at Charlotte Motor Speedway’s Pennzoil AutoFair.

Jancic added to a growing collection of accolades on Saturday when his red 1968 Dodge Charger claimed Walt Hollifield Best of Show honors.

Jancic, a Pennzoil AutoFair veteran of 15 years, purchased the vehicle two years ago when the car’s previous owner was ready to part ways with the classic muscle car.

Winning the Walt Hollifield Best of Show trophy came as a surprise to Jancic.

“I’m shocked to win,” Jancic said. “For a car to be this original is pretty rare. It’s very stock. It’s on its second vinyl top and everything in the trunk and under the hood is original. It’s a one-repaint kind of car.”

Jancic’s most recent Pennzoil AutoFair Best of Show award came in April 2016 with a blue B5 1970 Plymouth AAR Barracuda.

The Best of Show award was named for Charlotte-area car expert Walt Hollifield, who has been a valuable part of AutoFair for 40 years. Hollifield presented his eponymous award to Jancic in winner’s circle.

Three days of family-friendly fun and glistening cars throughout Charlotte’s 1.5-mile speedway also included drift car rides, a gigantic auto parts flea market extravaganza, appearances featuring American Ninja Warrior contestant Logan Broadbent and displays saluting iconic movie cars, like the world-famous Ford Mustang from the 1968 Steve McQueen movie “Bullitt.”

On Saturday, judges presented additional awards to:

Chelsea midfielder Christian Pulisic said he is looking for his "scoring touch" but is confident it will come back as he fights for more playing time with the Blues.

The United States international didn't get on the scoreboard as a 64th minute substitute in Chelsea's 1-0 win over Newcastle on Saturday but was involved in the buildup to Marco Alonso's 74th-minute winner.

Pulisic's surging run into the box drew several Newcastle defenders to him, his low centering feed found Callum Hudson-Odoi, who set up Alonso's low strike.

Pulisic nearly scored himself later but instead fed it to Tammy Abraham, only for the forward's shot to be deflected out by Newcastle defender and fellow U.S. international DeAndre Yedlin.

"It was a really good game, happy for the team, had a strong performance, they defended really well, and I was happy to make an impact," Pulisic told ESPN after the match.

It was a solid performance for Pulisic, who is still searching for his first goal with Chelsea since his $73 million summer move from Borussia Dortmund. He scored 13 goals during his three-year stint with the German club, along with 14 goals on international duty.

"I was going to shoot last-second, but I saw Tammy wide open and then DeAndre made an unbelievable block, so maybe I should have shot it," Pulisic told ESPN on the scoring chance. "I just don't have that scoring touch but I know it will come back."

Pulisic had a forgettable international break with the U.S., who beat Cuba in CONCACAF Nations League action but then suffered a shock loss to Canada in Toronto. In the latter match, Pulisic was visibly frustrated after being subbed off early by U.S. manager Gregg Berhalter.

Chelsea manager Frank Lampard praised Pulisic's performance against Newcastle, saying "there is a lot more to come" from the 21-year-old.

"I am really pleased for him. He is a hot topic because of his national team. Everyone has got carried away with the short term but in the long term there is a lot more to come. I am delighted for him. He will feel good about that and he should do," Lampard told reporters after Sunday's game.

An outlook that Pulisic echoed.

"[Lampard] told me to do exactly what I'm doing now, continue to train hard, when i get my opportunity I have to take it," Pulisic said.

Chelsea remain in fourth place in the Premier League standings with their third straight league win. They next play Ajax in Champions League action next week.

Real Madrid's unbeaten start to the La Liga season came to an abrupt end as Real Mallorca produced a huge shock to win 1-0 at the Son Moix on Saturday and climb out of the relegation zone.

Lago Junior's fantastic solo goal in the seventh minute put Mallorca ahead and Zinedine Zidane's side, missing several big names, failed to function on a night of frustration.

It was no smash and grab raid either as Mallorca produced a tenacious display full of energy in their first home clash with Real Madrid since 2012 -- that match ending in a 5-0 defeat.

Madrid, without the injured Luka Modric and Gareth Bale and also missing Eden Hazard after the birth of his fourth child, would have returned to the top with a win but were off the pace.

The visitors started confidently enough but were rocked when Lago Junior cut in from the left and lashed a right-footed shot across Thibaut Courtois and inside the far post.

The home fans were in delirium soon afterwards when Ante Budimir thought he had made it 2-0 by thumping a shot past Courtois but the goal was ruled offside.

Karim Benzema struck the woodwork for Madrid before halftime and Brazilian Vinicius Jr threatened with his pace.

But the expected second-half siege failed to materialise and Madrid played the last 15 minutes with 10 men after Alvaro Odriozola received a second yellow card.

Mallorca held firm for their third victory since returning to the top flight following a six-year absence.

Franco Escobar scored in the 70th minute and Brad Guzan made six saves as Atlanta United started defense of the MLS Cup title with a 1-0 victory over the visiting New England Revolution on Saturday in an Eastern Conference first-round knockout match.

Atlanta, the second seed, hosts the winner of the Philadelphia Union versus New York Red Bulls match in a conference semifinal on Thursday.

Escobar made a run down the right flank from his defender position and received an entry ball by Ezequiel Barco that went between two New England players. Escobar was in stride to power a shot underneath the crossbar for his second goal of the season.

Matt Turner made a big save on Atlanta leading scorer Josef Martinez in the 88th minute to keep it a one-goal game when he raced to the penalty spot to smother the shot.

Turner finished with four saves.

There was no feeling-out period in the first half because the teams knew each other well after United beat the Revolution 3-1 in the Oct. 6 regular-season finale.

The result was an entertaining opening 45 minutes with New England putting four of its seven shots on target while Atlanta forced two saves by Turner on nine attempts.

The Revolution was able to find space early in the absence of Atlanta defender Miles Robinson, who injured his hamstring while training with the U.S. national team during the nearly two-week break.

New England, in the playoffs for the first time since 2015, had the best opportunity to break the deadlock in the 37th minute when Cristian Penilla unleashed a 30-yard drive. Guzan, who had 14 shutouts in the regular season, dived to protect the left post and made a stretching save.

Turner matched Guzan's exploits in the 55th minute with his own spectacular stop on a 1-on-1 with Barco.

Atlanta captain Michael Parkhurst, a defender, sustained a left shoulder injury in the 93rd minute and had to leave the match.

LONDON -- As Gabriel Jesus strolled into Selhurst Park ahead of Manchester City's routine 2-0 victory over Crystal Palace -- earbuds in, wash bag in hand -- he may have permitted himself a moment of nostalgia.

It was at this same ground, in January 2017, that he made his full City debut, laying on the first goal of a 3-0 victory in the FA Cup fourth round with a sublime through ball for Raheem Sterling and leaving his new manager Pep Guardiola purring over his aggression, movement and link-up play.

The future looked bright for the then 19-year-old, who had joined City in a £27 million transfer from Brazilian side Palmeiras. Even after breaking his foot in his fourth appearance, which kept him on the sidelines for two and a half months, he finished his first half-season in English football with an impressive return of seven goals in 11 appearances.

Confronted by the challenge presented by his young, hungry rival, Sergio Aguero's days as City's undisputed first-choice striker looked numbered, but instead the Argentine knuckled down, addressed the areas of his game where Guardiola felt he was deficient and ended up strengthening his grip on a starting berth.

Jesus' career at the Etihad Stadium has not been without its glory moments -- not least the goal he scored in the St Mary's sunshine in May 2018 to take City to 100 points at the end of Guardiola's second season -- but the hierarchy has remained clear: Aguero one, Jesus two.

The Brazil striker expressed his frustration with the situation in a recent interview with Brazilian television station Esporte Interativo in which he spoke of the "hurt" he had felt at being left out for key fixtures last season. But his recent displays, culminating in City's win here at Palace, may have given Guardiola food for thought.

Just as in City's recent 3-1 win at Everton, Jesus was preferred to Aguero in the starting XI at Palace and just as at Goodison Park, he scored the opening goal. City had penned Palace inside their defensive third right from the off, but the visitors had nothing to show for their efforts until Bernardo Silva swung a cross into the box from the right flank in the 39th minute. Jesus stole in front of Joel Ward to meet the Portuguese's cross and divert the ball past Eagles goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey. Silva's cross flicked off Jesus' back, rather than his head, but he could not have placed his attempt more precisely, the ball bouncing off the left-hand post and into the net. City had the lead and Jesus had his 50th goal in City colours.

The 22-year-old also played a role in City's magnificent second goal just 93 seconds later, skidding a first-time pass wide to Benjamin Mendy after Kevin De Bruyne had led a breakaway from the edge of his own box. Mendy left the ball to Sterling, whose delightfully inventive scooped pass was volleyed between Hennessey's legs by David Silva.

Jesus had looked on his game from the start, drawing an early booking for Luka Milivojevic with some silky footwork on City's left flank, and he played a prominent role in the visitors' ultimately fruitless attempts to put the game to bed in the second half. He teed up Sterling for a shot that grazed the left-hand upright and twice worked Hennessey, the second time having ignored a square pass to De Bruyne that would have presented the Belgian midfielder with one of the easiest goals of his career. It was the striker's only bum note on this night.

The display was in keeping with Jesus' recent outings with Brazil. He played his way into the starting XI in the Selecao's Copa America triumph this summer, scoring and creating goals in both the semi-final win over Aguero's Argentina and the 3-1 victory over Peru in the final (before being sent off for two bookable offences in the latter). He also started both of Brazil's friendly games in Singapore during the international break, notably setting up a goal for Roberto Firmino in a 1-1 draw with Senegal.

Guardiola ducked an invitation to say whether Jesus' performance against Palace had put Aguero's starting position in doubt, explaining that it was purely due to inactivity during the international break that the club's record goalscorer had watched the entirety of Saturday's game from the bench.

"We have two incredible strikers," Guardiola said. "I'm not going to talk about how important Sergio is for this club. He's so, so important. Gabriel came back from Brazil [duty], so he had rhythm. Sergio was 10 days without rhythm, in training all week. That's why today I decided [to pick Jesus]. But both are important. When Sergio plays, he plays at a good level and when Gabriel plays, he plays at a good level. After that, I will take a decision that depends on many, many things."

Aguero figures to come back into the team when City entertain Atalanta in the Champions League on Tuesday, but with goals on his last seven starts for the club, Jesus could not be doing much more to shake things up. And having scored on his last two trips to Selhurst Park, a ground where Aguero has never found the net in six Premier League appearances, he has shown that on at least on one precise patch of turf in the London Borough of Croydon, he is City's number one.

United Arab Emirates 129 for 5 (Mustafa 39) beat Ireland 125 (Stirling 72, Mustafa 4-18) by five wickets

Rohan Mustafa did wonders to lift the recent gloom around the UAE squad with a spectacular all-round show, playing a role in eight of Ireland's 10 wickets before a blistering 39 off 16 balls to propel UAE's chase in a five-wicket win over Ireland on Saturday night in Abu Dhabi.

It was UAE's second victory in T20 cricket over Ireland in nine attempts, with their only previous win coming by five runs in the second match of a two-match series in 2016, also in Abu Dhabi.

One night after UAE struggled against Oman upon being sent in, the hosts seized on the opportunity to send Ireland in to bat first under lights and never let the opposition batting order get away. Paul Stirling scored nine of Ireland's 12 boundaries on the night, but they were sprinkled around a grinding knock in which he took 47 balls to reach his half-century.

Mustafa first appeared on the scorecard in the ninth over when he intercepted a drive from Andy Balbirnie at extra cover to give captain Ahmed Raza a wicket. He then got into the act with the ball in the following over after Harry Tector yorked himself charging a full delivery from Mustafa's zippy offspin and Gary Wilson slog swept to deep midwicket to end the 12th.

Mustafa returned in the final over when he had a hand in claiming four wickets - beginning with the dismissal of Mark Adair, in similar fashion to Tector. Three balls earlier, Mustafa - at long-on - had run out Stirling coming back for a second. He then ran out George Dockrell off his own bowling three balls into the last over with a hurried relay to keeper Mohammad Boota, who did well to collect and flick onto the stumps.

David Delany was then trapped with a full and straight delivery before Mustafa collected a relay from Sultan Ahmed on the boundary to break the stumps for Ireland's final wicket, Boyd Rankin, on the last ball of the innings.

Eight of Mustafa's first nine scoring shots to start the chase were boundaries; three consecutive straight drives over mid-on, a sweep over square leg, consecutive reverse sweeps over backward point, and back-to-back drives through extra cover. The main reason only one more came the rest of the way centered on Darius D'Silva's struggle to get singles and put Mustafa back on strike.

That loss of rhythm eventually disrupted Mustafa enough to lose his wicket. Having faced nine of the first 12 balls in the chase - striking seven of them for four - he only faced seven deliveries across the next five overs. Growing impatient he swiped hard trying to cut the first delivery he saw from fast bowler Delany and wound up having his stumps knocked back for 39.

But Muhammad Usman picked up where Mustafa left off and continued to punish the Ireland bowling unit, cutting and pulling a series of boundaries. He made a brisk 29 off 20 before Rankin claimed him with a gem that squared him up off a good length for an edge behind.

But by that stage UAE needed just 29 off 48 balls. After a pair of sloppy run outs, Waheed Ahmed settled nerves with a six heaved over cow corner to bring UAE one shot away from victory. Another four through midwicket clinched victory with three overs to spare.

Auburn's impeccable timing beat its NCAA-record kicking on Saturday.

Not long after setting the FBS record for the most consecutive made extra points with 303 -- and naturally celebrating it on Twitter with an emoji and exclamation point -- Auburn missed the following PAT.

"We're a kicking school," one fan tweeted before retracting it later with, "I take this back."

Auburn kicker Anders Carlson set the PAT record with 4:19 left in the third quarter. The school's streak had begun in 2013 -- and it ended with 11:54 left in the fourth quarter.

Auburn quarterback Bo Nix completed a 15-yard touchdown pass to Seth Williams to put the Tigers ahead on Arkansas 37-10, but Carlson missed the extra point attempt.

"Should've knocked on wood," another fan tweeted. Auburn won the game 51-10.

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. -- James McCourt kicked a 39-yard field as time expired and Illinois Fighting Illini pulled off the biggest upset of the college football season, knocking off No. 6 Wisconsin Badgers 24-23 on Saturday.

Tony Adams intercepted Wisconsin quarterback Jack Coan at midfield with 2:33 remaining. Dre Brown's tackle-breaking 13-yard run got Illinois (3-5, 1-3 Big Ten) to the Wisconsin 25 and allowed the Illini to run down the clock to attempt the game-winner.

McCourt's kick was right down the middle to give coach Lovie Smith the most significant victory of his four-year tenure in Champaign.

The Illini closed as 30.5-point underdogs at Caesars Sportsbook. According to ESPN Stats & Info, Illinois became the first team to win outright as more than a 30-point underdog since Iowa State (+30.5) did it against No. 3 Oklahoma on Oct. 7, 2017.

Wisconsin had not trailed this season and was looking to roll into a showdown with No. 3 Ohio State next week in Columbus. Instead, the Badgers (6-1, 4-1) blew a nine-point lead in the final 9:46 of the fourth quarter.

Illinois beat a ranked team for the first time since 2011 and knocked off a ranked Big Ten team for the first time since 2007, when the Illini beat No. 1 Ohio State in November on their way to a Rose Bowl appearance.

The Illini last beat a ranked Big Ten team at home on October 2007 -- a 31-26 victory against No. 5 Wisconsin.

Heisman Trophy contender Jonathan Taylor rushed 28 times for 132 yards and one touchdown for Wisconsin, but he also had a fumble in Illinois territory in the fourth quarter to help fuel the Illinois comeback.

Coan was 24 of 32 passing for 264 yards and a touchdown, but his one interception came at a crucial time. His pass on third-and-5 sailed high, and Adams grabbed it to give Illinois a short field against the No. 1 defense in the nation.

Illinois had cut Wisconsin's lead to 20-14 late in the third quarter on a 43-yard touchdown run by Reggie Corbin.

Wisconsin had opportunities to pad its lead, but settled for a field goal after a first-and-goal from the 3. Taylor also fumbled at the Illinois 25.

After the fumble, the Illini ripped off a 75-yard touchdown drive, capped by Brandon Peters' 29-yard pass to Josh Imatorbhebhe to make it 23-21 with 5:53 left.
