A Development Super Camp, combining training opportunities for players supported through High Performance and Development initiatives, successfully concluded in Bangkok (THA).

Led by defensive legend Joo Saehyuk (KOR) and My Gender. My Strength. alumna Mamata Prabhu (IND), 32 players could prepare in top conditions for the currently ongoing WTT Youth Contender Bangkok and next weeks WTT Youth Contender Vientiane. Alongside With The Future In Mind scholarship recipients, Continental Youth Grant holders, and the local Thai national team players, 10 Wild Card recipients were able to soak up the international training atmosphere. The camp also allowed two of this years MGMS cohort to gain valuable practical experience at an ITTF-led training camp, an integral part of this years project.

The Thai association also took the opportunity of Joo Saehyuks presence to arrange a coaching clinic on defensive play, which an impressive 180 Thai coaches attended.

ITTF Sports Development Director Mikael Andersson was impressed by the conditions on site and the initiative taken by the Thai association.

The ITTF Development Super Camp is truly very good, and I appreciate the Thai association stepping up in cooperating with ITTF Sports Development to stage this camp in a very professional and smooth manner. Attendance is strong, we have many well scouted players here that are quite promising, including from smaller associations and of course former Hopes players. This is also a very good opportunity for the local Thai players to prepare before the competition, and I have to praise the good initiative by the Thai association, something that can be emulated by other associations.
