Harvick Back On Cup Series Pole For Daytona

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Not even a different configuration can keep Kevin Harvick off the NASCAR Cup Series Busch Pole at Daytona Int’l Speedway.

After previously earning the top starting spot at the track’s 3.61-mile road course two weeks ago, Harvick landed the pole for Saturday night’s Coke Zero Sugar 400 on the 2.5-mile, high-banked Daytona oval thanks to NASCAR’s performance-based metrics.

The 2014 Cup champion and seven-time race winner this season did so with a perfect score of 1.0 to boot, by winning the most recent race at Dover Int’l Speedway on Sunday, posting the fastest race lap and ranking as the current Cup Series point leader.

Harvick has also already locked up the regular-season championship as well.

Martin Truex Jr. will join Harvick on the front row, followed by Joey Logano, Brad Keselowski and Aric Almirola.

William Byron and Jimmie Johnson, the two Hendrick Motorsports teammates locked in a battle to make the playoffs, roll off sixth and seventh, respectively. Alex Bowman, Ryan Blaney and Denny Hamlin complete the first five rows of the grid.
