CONCORD, N.C. – Days removed from his first NASCAR Cup Series victory at Daytona Int’l Speedway, William Byron has announced he has signed a contract extension to remain with Hendrick Motorsports through the 2022 season.
Byron made the announcement via his official Twitter account.

The 22-year-old native of Charlotte, N.C., is currently in his third full-time NASCAR Cup Series season with Hendrick Motorsports after moving to the Cup Series in 2018.
Byron initially signed his contract with Hendrick Motorsports in 2016 and he moved to the NASCAR Xfinity Series with JR Motorsports in 2017, capturing the NASCAR Xfinity Series championship in his rookie season after winning four races.
Prior to that he raced in the NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series for Kyle Busch Motorsports, where he won seven races and finished the season ranked fifth in the standings.
In his time at the NASCAR Cup Series level Byron has one victory, seven top-five and 26 top-10 finishes in addition to five poles. He also won one of the two Bluegreen Vacations Duel Daytona 500 qualifying races this season.
