LASALLE, Ill. – Brandon Sheppard found a way by Chris Simpson to win Sunday’s MARS Racing Series Rip-It 50 at LaSalle Speedway, earning $10,000 for his efforts.
Simpson started second and took the lead early on, with Sheppard coming from fourth to pursue Simpson. Sheppard moved into second on lap 28 when Rusty Schlenk dropped out of the race with mechanical issues.
From there it was a battle between Sheppard and Simpson, with Sheppard eventually emerging with the lead after nearly 20 circuits on lap 46.
Sheppard would go on to win by 1.7 seconds, with Simpson holding off Brian Shirley to finish second. Josh Richards and Bobby Pierce completed the top-five.
