LAKE VIEW, S.C. – Dustin Mitchell continued his mastery of Lake View Motor Speedway, leading every lap Saturday night for his fourth Ultimate Super Late Model Series win.
The win was Mitchell’s third-straight late model win at Lake View, completing a trio of victories that began with the track’s local late model division and a Blue Ridge Outlaw Late Model Series win last weekend.
Mitchell jumped out front entering turn one at the start of the feature ahead of polesitter Matthew Nance. The first caution of the 50-lap feature waved on the fifth circuit when Will Harris stopped on the track.
Mitchell continued to lead when the race resumed as the battle for second began to heat up between Nance and rookie Corey Gordon. On lap 23, Gordon made his move around Nance for second. Nance fought back, diving to the inside of Gordon in turn three two laps later. The two made contact, causing both to spin and ending any chance either driver had for the victory.
The drive of the night came from veteran Jeff Smith, who made his way to second after starting 12th. In the end, Mitchell proved to be too strong, taking the win over Smith, Anthony Sanders, Christian Thomas and Daniel Tucker.
Other winners Saturday night included Greg Cain (602 modifieds), Blake Pryor (Crate Racin’ USA Street Stocks), Jaden Locklear (Stock V-8) and Jerry Johnson Jr. (SCDRA Sport Compact).
The finish:
Dustin Mitchell, Jeff Smith, Anthony Sanders, Christian Thomas, Daniel Tucker, G.R. Smith, Chris Blackwell, Cla Knight, Dennis Franklin, Willie Milliken, Zach Cox, Adam Yarbrough, Matthew Nance, Doug Sanders, Will Harris, Corey Gordon, Brian Ledbetter.
